“Kara Suzanne is part sullen cowgirl, part seductive cabaret singer and all soulful folk-rock songstress. She bewitches audiences with her songs that are simultaneously heartbreaking and carefree. Kara Suzanne is the sort of singer who invites you along on the ride through her life and her loves with a sound and songs that are contemporary and distinctly her own. She’s this generation’s answer to Emmylou Harris and Patty Griffin.”

Robo.to allows you to create 4-second, video avatars using your webcam or camera phone. Simply put, they are video status updates. It’s a basic concept, but their execution is formidable.
There are plenty of sites where you’re allowed to upload animated GIFs as your avatar, but it appears to be magic to the non-tech savvy. I would love to see this type of service integrated into larger sites as an alternative to your static self-image. Restricting the length of the video forces creativity out of people and keeps the spirit of the animated GIF. I look forward to the other products Particle creates.
To top off my high I got from Boxee’s success at CES, I hopped on over to San Francisco to meet with Lucasfilm. Lucasfilm and Star Wars Uncut are exploring the possibilities of collaboration. We had a fantastic brainstorm session.
I got a full tour of the Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic offices. Inside is incredible. Filled with tons of toys, movie posters and nostalgia in every single office. Unfortunately, you’re not allowed to take photos once you’re inside except for one exception; You have to be in the photo yourself. I took the time to sit in Mr. Lucas’ spot at the conference table and snap a photo.
They have their own coffee shop called, “Java the Hutt”.
Me and Zach at CES.
Today Boxee was nominated LAPTOP’s Best of CES and we are a finalist for CNET’s Best of CES.
My beard was also nominated Best Beard of CES 2010.
Come work with us! Beards are a plus. Especially if you’re a girl.
The Boxee team is growing!
We just signed a lease for a new office just off Union Square in NYC and we’d like to fill our big, beautifully-lit space with bright, enthusiastic and idealistic people to help us build a company that will dramatically change the way we use televisions.
First up, we’re looking for a creative chief to conceive and design all aspects of our company’s interface, from the actual look, feel and concept of the Boxee software to the stickers and t-shirts we give to our users.
The ideal candidate can have any level of experience, but must show a unique voice and willingness to push the limits. As a company we lead not follow, and this must be apparent in our design. You’ll work directly with me to pull this off.
Our compensation is competitive, and we offer a health package that will make your mind melt, and then heal it immediately. This is an exceptionally special company when it comes to taking care of its employees.
If you’re interested, please send me a short bio and a list of things you’ve made: zach@boxee.tv

Star Wars: Uncut is nearly complete (96%)! In the next few weeks I’ll be creating a new experience that will allow you to easily enjoy all the incredible scenes people have created. Participants will also have the chance to earn badges like the one above designed by Malcolm Sutherland.

What’s unique about all Whiskerino photos is that they are unedited. No photoshopping allowed. I love the amount of creativity this limitation creates.
